Mumble 1.2 now in beta
Posted: November 13th, 2009 | Author: =MUPP= oGre | Filed under: Tech stuff | Tags: mumble | Comments OffMumble 1.2 has now reached Beta status. I have upgraded our internal server to this release and tried out the new beta client today.
Get it here.
The new 1.2 protocol is not compatible with 1.1.X, so server and clients should be upgraded at approximately the same time. I don’t see us moving to the 1.2 on the real servers until 1.2 reaches gold. However, the 1.2 client contains an extra binary that is 1.1.x compatible, so you can install the beta client if you wish, and still be able to use our servers.
One sweet feature with 1.2 is that it contains authorization using public/private keys instead of passwords, and you can actually register a user from within the client itself. I just tried it out and it works great.
