The sixth annual halloween special is live on the server. Read about it here.
Our mumble servers have not received any love for a year or so.
Yesterday I updated the two servers to 1.2.4 and updated instructions on the Mumble wiki on how to do it for CentOS 6.
In order to use them you should get a certificate from StartCom. Instructions are here.
Sourcemod 1.5.0 and Metamod:source 1.10 have been released.
The servers are updated.
The Killing Floor event for this summer is live.
However, since the folks over at Tripwire decided to compile the server on an Ubuntu server which has a newer version of glibc that CentOS and Debian uses, our server will be down until there is a fix.
There is a forum thread over at tripwire regarding the problem.
Edit: A few hours later Tripwire reverted to the old compiler and issued a small update. The server is up and running now.
The steampipe version is now live and the servers are accepting clients again.
Things have been kind of slow regarding updates to the server park as of lately. However, now that Valve moves distribution to steampipe, I’ve re-started them again.
As of now they run Left 4 Dead 2 beta, which will be released this week. If you want to try them out, you have to update to the current beta client.
The new RAID controller is in place and everything should be back to normal..
Read all about the new game mode here.
We will host this on tf.muppfarmen.se for the time being.
There is a very useful plugin that takes care of vote kicking when there are admins on the server.
Votekick Switcher disables vote kicking when there are admins with kick privileges on the server. When the server is unattended vote kick is enabled.
Killing Floor recently released a mandatory server update for their summer campaign. In order to update the server you have to ditch the good old hlsdupdatetool and start using steamcmd. Steamcmd requires a steam account, so I created a free one just for this.
Here are some of the steps taken:
- Created a subfolder for the server user, kf-ds
- Downloaded the steamcmd-binary and extracted it into the new folder
- Made a script for updating the server, called kfserver_script, according to the new steamcmd way, in that folder:
login [STEAM_USER] [STEAM_PASSWORD]
app_update 215360 validate
- In the server home folder executed the command
STEAMEXE=steamcmd [SERVER_ROOT]/kf-ds/steam.sh +runscript [SERVER_ROOT]/kf-ds/kfserver_script
Now the server files are downloaded and verified. The binary is still in the System-directory, but they have changed all folder names from lower case to starting with a capital letter.
Starting the server is done using
./ucc-bin server kf-hellride.rom?game=KFmod.KFGameType?VACSecured=true?MaxPlayers=6
If it starts OK, you can use a init.d-wrapper script that starts, stops and updates the server. That’s how we do it, running the server in a separate Screen. There is more info on the changes over at the Killing Floor wiki.
Fixes some problems after the new Pyro update for TF2.
All servers have been updated.
Details about the update are here.
