Damit 2 and Diescraper Redux updated

Posted: July 20th, 2010 | Author: =MUPP= oGre | Filed under: Left 4 Dead 2 | Tags: | No Comments »

Both campaigns have been updated to their respective latest version. Please note that both have changed the name of their VPK-file, so you need to remove the old one and replace it with the new file.

I have not been able to test the updates yet, but the servers are up and ready to go.

Most custom l4d2 campaigns re-enabled

Posted: April 29th, 2010 | Author: =MUPP= oGre | Filed under: Left 4 Dead 2, updates | Tags: | No Comments »

After a bit of input from Valve, and some trial and horror, it seems like survivor models from l4d1 is the culprit:

We corrected an issue with add-ons in Monday’s update that allows models to be overridden in coop mode (as we allowed before The Passing update). I’m wondering if there is some sort of conflict with add-ons that include models and how we load the L4D1 Survivor models in The Passing.

Does this precache error occur in Versus mode? We don’t allow model overrides from vpk add-ons in competitive game modes (versus/scavenge).

We’ve disabled No Mercy 2, but the other custom campaigns should work.

Left 4 Dead 2 update released – Valve screws up again

Posted: April 27th, 2010 | Author: =MUPP= oGre | Filed under: Left 4 Dead 2, updates | Tags: | 1 Comment »

Updates to Left 4 Dead 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Left 4 Dead 2

  • Fixed addons content not loading if coop was the first game mode loaded
  • Fixed versus modes sometimes using incorrect game rule settings after server hibernation
  • Fixed a crash in The Parish: The Park on Linux dedicated servers
  • Updated dlc1 Russian UI text

Also Valve breaks the Passing – all custom campaigns (the .vpk files) must be removed from the server and clients in order to start the passing in co-op mode. This means all custom campaigns are temporarily disabled on the servers.

I expect a new patch soon. Way to go Valve.

Metamod patch available

The good guys over at sourcemod have released a new build of MM:S, that hopefully gets it loading. Sourcemod will need patching too, so for our purposes, we have to wait for a sourcemod patch as well before everything returns to normal.

The guys over at sourcemod are doing a great job patching this at the rate that they do!

Valve fails with the Passing update

Posted: April 23rd, 2010 | Author: =MUPP= oGre | Filed under: Left 4 Dead 2, Plugins | Tags: | No Comments »

Six hours have passed since release and the servers haven’t got the full update yet. A panic patch has been released for the client, but doesn’t do much good when the servers don’t receive the update.

Seriously, Valve should pre-release the servers for big updates like this, so that people don’ get stuck with no servers on line after they’ve updated their clients. This is the longest outage we’ve had on the server side since the game was released.

In addition to this, it seems like the update broke metamod:source and sourcemod, so a lot of servers will stay off line until the community manages to update the plugins.

EDIT: The update went through for the servers now, so we’re live. Without Metamod and sourcemod.

The passing has been released

Posted: April 22nd, 2010 | Author: =MUPP= oGre | Filed under: Left 4 Dead 2 | Tags: | No Comments »

Servers are being updated as we speak.

Valve spills the beans here.

“The Passing” features 3 new maps, new weekly game modes (Mutations), a new “uncommon common” zombie class (the fallen survivor), melee weapon (golf club), firearm (M-60), support for infected bot play in Versus, 10 new achievements and more!

Is that francis I see?

A bit more tricky to install than the original, but seems to work nicely.

Get it over at l4dmods.
