The new steam client has been released. Among the news is Webkit as a renderer instead of the crappy IE. Unfortunately they prevent us from using custom protocols, so you can’t trigger a mumble-URL anymore. Hopefully they get around to fix that.
I also would like a server gadget for Vista/Windows 7.

The upcoming facelift of the Steam platform is now in public beta. Read all about it here.
One of the nifty new features is that the overlay now features a real browser with support for https://. I’m not that fond of the game list though. It takes up a LOT of space and gets rather messy if you have 30+ games.
If you run a non-English windows you need to patch this file:
Go to folder
Steam\resource\styles
Open steam.styles in your favorite editor.
Change basefontbold=”Arial bold” to ”Arial”
I can’t believe that Steam messed that up – they have quite a few international users..

Well most of you must have noticed that stats got reset, and disappeared in l4d2 this weekend.
There has been a steam back-end update now, which should prevent this from happening. Also they will reload your stats from the backups during the week.
