TF2 update released

Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Team Fortress 2

  • Fixed inconsistent Rage generation with the Buff Banner
  • Added an “equipped” tag to currently equipped items in the Backpack and Crafting screens
  • Fixed the TFBots not reacting correctly to stun effects
  • Fixed the Heavy picking up his own thrown sandvich if it was thrown while running forward
  • Fixed Pyros not getting the proper kill icon for kills with deflected Direct Hit rockets
  • Fixed the player keeping their rage setting when the Buff Banner isn’t equipped
  • Fixed resupply cabinet not clearing the rage and the buff status effect
  • Fixed the Buff Banner not working when +reload has been forced in console
  • Fixed the motion blur on charging Demomen not always drawing
  • Fixed the Direct Hit mini-critting enemies submerged in water
  • Fixed the Chargin’ Targe’s crit not working on servers with tf_weapon_criticals 0
  • Capped the amount of overhealing from taking heads to the player’s max buffed health
  • Updated the Gunboats to absorb damage from any self-inflicted rocket blast that doesn’t hurt another player
  • Updated the Scottish Resistance to detonate bombs near the player’s feet (in addition to what it normally detonates). This enables sticky jumping with this weapon
  • Updated the Baseball and Jarate HUD indicators to stay on screen when full

Crafting improvements

  • Spy’s camera beard can now be smelted into scrap metal
  • Recipes can no longer produce items matching any of the items used in the crafting
  • Added some new recipes

Achievement fixes

  • Fixed the “Ride of the Valkartie” Soldier achievement being earned by Soldiers on the defending team
  • Fixed the “Gorky Parked” Heavy achievement being incremented by committing suicide on a control point
  • Fixed several Scout achievements that were broken by the new type of bat stun
  • Fixed the “Ghastly Gibus Grab” achievement not awarding the hat correctly
  • Updated the “Big Pharma” (Medic) and “Division of Labor” (Heavy) achievements to be 10 kills in a single life
  • Updated the “Ubi concordia, ibi victoria” Medic achievement to only be 3 assists

Metamod:Source 1.8.0 released

The l4d and l4d2 servers have received the new version. TF2 will probably get them later today. The TF2 servers have been updated as well.

Left 4 Dead gets an update

Updates to Left 4 Dead have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Left 4 Dead

  • Teams that prefer listen servers will no longer be matched with teams that prefer dedicated servers
  • Official dedicated servers are now preferred when searching for team matches
  • More populous lobbies are now preferred over less populous ones when searching for games
  • Players who crash or have failed to load are no longer banned if they have been kicked
  • Fixed exploit allowing players to end games prematurely using the ‘outtro_stats_done’ console command
  • Reduced Dedicated Server max search ping to 150 ms
  • Fixed a common crash

Left 4 Dead 2 update released

Another bugfix update. The servers are updating now. Pity Valve won’t make forked servers autoupdate.

Updates to Left 4 Dead 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. These and all previous fixes will be coming to the 360 later this month. The major changes include:

Left 4 Dead 2

  • Changed rules for ghost placement in Scavenge Mode
  • Player controlled Special Infected are no longer forced to un-crouch and lock strafe when they crouch attack
  • Spitter spit that damages players on a moving elevator will now fizzle quickly
  • Allow the survivor and infected to rotate the camera yaw while being attacked by a Charger or Smoker
  • Smoker that has dragged a survivor to the end now gets the same cinematic flashlight as the Hunter and Charger
  • Fixed a crash in physics
  • Updated the Charger’s hit boxes
  • Updated the Jockey’s hit boxes
  • Updated the Spitter’s hit boxes
  • Fixed player health on being revived after a Charger slam over a high ledge
  • Fixed versus scores not resetting after a vote to change campaigns
  • Fixed being able to use defibrillator on dead players who were far above or below you
  • Fixed pink glow on dead survivors
  • Fixed being able to hold crouch while incapped to get better weapon accuracy
  • Fixed players pushing against some props causing them to accumulate downward velocity and then take falling damage when they let go of the forward key
  • Fixed a case where an incapped survivor inside a rescue vehicle would trigger both the escape sequence and a round restart
  • Fixed the helping hand from getting stuck when extended

Teal Fortress 2 update released

It’s been a while, but now Valve has decided to give TF2 some love. Looks like some security fixes as well as the usual bug fixes. The servers are updating now. Let’s see if Valve breaks sourcemod this time..

Engine

  • Added checks to prevent transferring .smx, .gcf, and .sys files between client/server
  • Fixed upload/download exploits with spaces in the file extension or a path separator at the beginning of the requested file (as reported on the HLDS mailing lists)

Team Fortress 2

  • Fixed custom particle systems inside maps causing particles to break in successive maps
  • Fixed a rare vphysics crash
  • Fixed background highlight for KOTH timers not being aligned properly in minmode
  • Fixed the Heavy’s fists being hidden while taunting
  • Fixed cloaked Spies having the critboost effect on their weapon
  • Fixed banned clients being able to spamming a server with the “joined” chat text
  • Fixed seeing the wrong class counts if the game swapped teams while the class menu was open
  • Fixed Spies being able to disguise while performing a taunt
  • Fixed having to press the voice menu key twice if the menu timed out and closed itself last time it was open
  • Fixed the “Confirm Delete” dialog in the Items menu not handling the key correctly
  • Fixed dispenser not healing players at the correct rate if it’s upgraded while the players are already touching the dispenser
  • Fixed exec’ing the .cfg file for a class change before the player has actually changed class

  • Fixed crash on startup when using FAT32 file system
  • Fixed in-game chat input where the local encoding differs from the input language’s
  • Fixed bug where Survivor Bots would sometimes become unresponsive in Scavenge games
  • Updated subtitle localization files for Hungarian, Portuguese, Romanian and Russian
  • Fixed exploit that allowed players on the Infected team to spawn directly next to the Survivors

  • Fixed case where game failed to launch in certain machine configurations
  • Fixed bug where a burning witch could get into a state where she’s invincible

Update just in time for the fredags mys! Hopefully the charger bug is really fixed – we have seen it a number of times this week. Thanks to sourcemod and noclip you can get away, otherwise we would have been really stuck.

Some much needed fixes have been relesased – rcon responses now work on linux servers!

  • Fixed performance problem when rendering lots of decals, notably when fighting tanks with shotguns
  • Fixed rcon response not working on Linux dedicated servers
  • Fixed matchmaking problem matching into Advanced and Expert games
  • Fix bug that would cause other specials to try to pummel a player a Charger disconnects or reconnects
  • Fixed versus mode results panel being cut off in transition stats screen in non-english
  • Found games: fixed non-player entries drawing the wrong type of icon in the selected item name label
  • Game mode selector on main menu now takes keyboard input
